New Simpler Recycling Regulations affecting General Waste collections from 31st March 2025

Under the new Simpler Recycling legislation, businesses with 10 employees and more must separate all dry recyclables into dedicated containers and ensure food waste is collected separately, regardless of the amount produced. Businesses with fewer than 10 employees have time until March 2027 to comply.

For most businesses, the biggest change will be that you can no longer use a general waste bin for all your waste. This means that businesses will need to have 3 or 4 separate containers at a minimum for different waste and recyclable streams. (DMR, Food, Glass, General Waste)
